“Always
tell the truth. It’s always done right by
me.” Constable Bill Bailey
A regular meeting of Space Center Rotary
was held at Bay Oaks Country Club. Jack Bacon led
members singing “America the Beautiful” and Carlos Villagomez
led the prayer. Mike Duckworth gave the Pledge of
Allegiance, and Mike Brown led members in the Four Way
Test. Kippy Carraway introduced visitors and
guests.
Phil
Sandlin introduced Constable Bill Bailey,
who talked to members about his many experiences in law
enforcement and his impending retirement. In addition to
serving as the Constable for Precinct 8 since 1982, Constable
Bailey has also served as a radio personality and long time
voice of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Constable
Bailey shared anecdotes from his years of service, and passed
along the same advice he received when his predecessor
retired: “Always tell the truth. It’s always done
right by me.” Constable Bailey received a standing
ovation in recognition of his years of community
service.
President Coney reminded members that
there will not be a meeting next week due to the Memorial Day
holiday and adjourned the meeting.
