As
such we don’t have any time request. But I think on your schedules any time
between 21st to 30th June 2011 will be idle. After
getting visit approval letter from NASA we need time to apply Visa for the
children and arrange for ticketing.
Our
primary objective is to take the children to NASA. If it takes a day, we could
spend a day or more in Houston which you may suggest. Sabarina in her previous
mail suggested that she could arrange a meet with Indian scientist with these
children. But the possibility is left to her. After Houston we plan to visit
Washington for a day and return back through New York.
If possible
if you could arrange for a dormitory stay or Home hospitality in Houston for
these 20 children and 5 Rotarians, it would be more helpful. Please note –
if possible.
The
project can also be made as a joint project with Space Center Rotary Club. We
would be honoured. Else a New Generation project between the districts D5890
and D3202. We are open for any possible suggestions.

Center Rotary club. April and May are quite busy months for our Rotarians as we
will have our District Conference from April 27 thru May 1, 2011 and the
International Convention is from May 27 thru June 2, 2011. Please let us know

over phone regarding the NASA project.
Our
Club is willing to take 25 students from downtrodden section studying in
Government and municipal schools to NASA, USA (age 15-17 years). We plan this
project to motivate them for their better career and to show them the
scientific developments around the world. For the above we have selected 20
students through competitions and as a preamble we have taken them to ISRO
Satellite center Bangalore in the month of Feb. Our Club is planning to bear
the entire cost.
In
this regard I contacted Rtn.Jagdip (Former inbound GSE Team leader to our
District) and on his advice and through Ms.Sabrina we have forward a request to
NASA in Jan 2011. I have attached the letter we have send through Ms.Sabrina to
NASA.
Till
now we do not know the status of our request.
We
kindly request you to help us in getting the permission to visit NASA.

me update the details happened here on the NASA project.
We
have conducted competitions (Aptitude and Science Project Presentation) among
schools and selected the 25 candidates (20 plus 5 in waiting list) among the
178 attended. On 4th Feb we took these students to ISRO (Indian
Space Research Organization) Satellite center, for them to have a preamble on
space science before they come to NASA. We had a detail walk through on the
center at Bangalore. This is the place where they make Satellites in India. This
center is managed by Ministry of Space – Government of India. Next week we are
to start the passport process for these students. We may be able to get the
passport number for all these children within the end of this month.
Any
updates from NASA? I have asked my district governor to contact the local
governor Rtn.Sunny Sharma in USA in the regards.

The dates are flexible on their end but I think we might end up
doing it in June. I want to make sure NASA approves their visit before
they proceed with travel arrangements, to save them unnecessary

This is fantastic! Yes, a letter as you instructed will be
best because the group is so large and it is all foreign nationals. It is
best that you are starting the process early.
I will personally hand deliver it to some of the senior
executive staff here. It is also best that it comes in multiple channels
through DG Sunny and the Clear Lake Rotary Club.
I think it would also be useful for me to invite several young
professionals of Indian background to meet with these students. It serves
as positive role modeling and will be a good exchange of experiences. One
thing to note is that I will be in India from April 27-May 25.
