President David Coney opened
the regular Club meeting at the Bay Oaks
Country Club and led the membership
in singing one of his favorite songs: “God Bless
America”. Dennis Dillon gave the prayer, Vissett Sun led
the Pledge of Allegiance, and Ted Cummings kicked off the Four
Way Test. Jerry Smith welcomed visitors and
guests. President Coney reminded golfers of the Rotary
golf outing Thursday at Evergreen. RSVPs are due to Dick
Hergert by Wednesday. Mike Dennard announced that host
families are needed for the vocational training teams visiting
from Japan the weekend of April 22nd.
Art Wood
introduced inbound international exchange student Adam Keve from
Slovakia. Adam gave a PowerPoint presentation
about his homeland, shared its history, and answered
questions. John Branch introduced today’s speaker, our
very own past President, Jon McKinnie, representing Bankers
Life and Casualty Company. Jon presented information
about Medicare, the origins of the program, and the different
plans available. More detailed information is available
at medicare.gov.
President Coney invited interested
members to attend tomorrow morning’s Club Board meeting and
adjourned the meeting.

Visit Honduras with Sheryl
Berg
Sheryl Berg sent the Club
members an invitiation to join her in visiting Honduras
to observe one of this year's service projects, the oven
project, which the Club recently donated
$2,000. Sheryl's email follows:
Hi David, The Rotary Club of Copan,
Honduras has extended to us an invitation to come down and
take part in learning about, promoting and meeting with the
families in the community where the Ecocinas will be
distributed, thanks to Space Center Rotary's donation to
them. I am thinking of going in May, and I'd love it if
there is anyone else who would like to go down, too. We
have been invited to speak at their Rotary club as well.
Will you please make their invitation known to our club so
that if there is anyone else who would like to go, they could
make that know to me before I make my
reservations?
Thanks--
Sheryl
