Unsolved Histories

There were several activities the Club's history that occurred over several years that did not receive closure.  These are listed below as an interim location until more information is obtained.  If no additional  information is found, at least this information has not been lost as a history in itself.  However all the information is archived in the respective year which it occurred.

Golf Trophy for Winner of Annual Golf Tournment

The only  picture of the Wooden  Trophy was apparently in 1990 when Vic Maria   won it.  The trophy is now in the history file as a courtesy of Vic's efforts.  A base has been added since the picture with Vic was taken because the three sides other than the front had been filled with winners  going back to Floyd Boze in 1975.  The latest winners were Bill Predmore and Dave Owen, 1999.  See photos of the trophy.

Questions?
How did the idea originate?
Who made the trophy?
How many years was the trophy used?
Why did the tradition stop?

Shrimp Costume

The first shrimp costume was approved by the Board of Directors on August 12, 1980 at an estimated cost of $750 to $1,000 and expected to last 10 years. Delivery was scheduled September 9, 1980.  The costume did not appear in the availabe record until 1998 and then in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

As I recall, Johnny Gibson's wife made the shrimp costume.....check with Bill Lowes...I remember him wearing it at the Hilton......he may have more original info on it.  Laura Hale September 2011

Brass Shrimp

The term “Brass Shrimp” first appeared in the July 16, 1990 Blastoff, then again in the November 1990 Blastoff and in the September 12, 1992 Blastoff. There has been no additional information found about it in the available newsletters or the Club Board meeting minutes, or was the brass shrimp in the Club’s history records.

The transfers based on the Shirmporee Chairs and information found in the Blastoffs are as follows:
1989 to 1990
David Cordell to David Owen   (Later Mike Brown )
1990 to 1991     Mike Brown to Mike Brown
1991 to 1992
Mike Brown to Donnie Johnson
1992 to 1993     Donnie Johnson to Bill Taylor

The Brass Shrimp was apparently used by the Shrimporee Chairs in a manner similar to the club presidents passing on the Presidential Gavel.

Questions?
How did the brass shrimp idea originate?
How many years was it transferred from Shrimporee chair to the next Shrimporee chair?
Why did the tradition stop?
Where is it?
