The history file contained several documents: 23 newsletters, Blastoffs, out of a possible 48, assuming that one was issued every Club meeting, 19 pieces of correspondence, a budget, 25 Board meeting minutes, and no members of the avenues of service committees. The Club Programs and Special Events listing also contained 23 programs. The Blastoffs were colored, legal size and two sided. The Club continued to meet at the Holiday Inn.

A
1981-82 budget dated February 1, 1982 contained a few annotations regarding expenditures. Only $1,750 was noted for service projects although $17,500 was shown budgeted.  Further the principal beneficiary was Crime Stoppers and it is assumed that the money designated in the budget ($5,000) was given. Since the Shrimporee netted $13,378, it is suspected that the amount given to service projects was more. The amount of monies made from the fund raisers since the first recorded fundraiser in 1968 is $116,399.

The
membership was as follows: 20 additions, 17 terminations, with a net gain of 12 leaving 128 members excluding honorary members. The closest Club Roster for the year is dated February 15, 1982. Eleven previous presidents were on the membership roster.

The Club received an
exemption dated July 15, 1981 from sales tax by the State of Texas.

Requested change to the Club's territorial limits wasapproved in a
letter and associated documents including a map dated May 21, 1982 from the Rotary International to Charles Hartman, Secretary.

There were10
letters regarding the Clubworking with other Rotary clubs to purchase a blood refrigerator for the Tepic Rotary Club Nayarit, Mexico. The Club donated $1,000. There were 2 letters establishing an International Youth Exchange with the Mexico City Rotary Club tentatively planned for 1983.

There was abounded, mostly typed report, prepared by F. G. Morgan, Jr., General Chairman of the Shrimporee, title"
Eight Annual Shrimporee and Benefit Auction 1981" that contains much information about the fund raiser. There is a summary report in front which provides a good overview of the activities. The Chairman noted that therewere2,250 people served with a total food serving count of 3,408. The event net income was $13,378.

The
March 8, 1982 Blastoff had an write-up on five visitors from Australia under the Rotary Exchange Program.

A senior citizen's program proposed by Bob Mitchell noted that the
Senior Citizen's Committee was started in 1980.

Gene Lindquist received a plaque of appreciation for 10 years of dedicated service to Rotary. He stated in the
July 23, 1981 Blastoff that "The standing ovation, applause and cheering warmed my heart..." Twentyfive members had 100% attendance for the Rotary year. The District Governor sent a letter of appreciation with his evaluation of the Club to the President dated December 11, 1981. An interesting letter with a Charter Dinner envelope from the Pretoria Rotary Club requesting to establish a link to the Club. The Pretoria club requested that the Club sent them a "doll dressed in your area national costume".

There wereone
Paul Harris Fellow named for the Rotary Year bringing the total for the Club to 16 since 1972.

The 73rd Rotary International Convention was held June 6-9,1982 in Dallas TX, USA. There were 13,222 in attendance and no record of anyone from Rotary of Space Center, Houston attending.

No record could be found regarding District 589 Conference .

This Rotary year history was placed in the archives in 2009.
